This piece was first recorded on The Sound of Water in 2011. This was around the time I made my first kora transcriptions.

I re-recorded it on Libraries on Fire as part of my interpretation of Amadou Bansang's Alfa Yaya.

A chap called Gustavo wrote to me asking for a score of it saying "I'm in love with Anna Magdalena." Aren't we all!

In case you didn't know Anna Magdalena was Bach's second wife and first his pupil (naughty JS). She wrote out his cello suites and her copy is the only surviving copy. So I made this as a thank you to her.

I actually had to transcribe this from the recording like I would a piece boy somebody else because it has been so long since I played it in this version - the part I quote now is in a different arrangement entirely. There were some nice themes here I had forgotten.

It's not entirely difficult if you're good at bar chords. I am considering a new composition based on this with a new tuning where there will be NO BAR CHORDS! Life should be like this of course, but this present version will make your hands strong! Other than the barre it's a pretty easy piece with a regular rhythm going throughout.
